jetzt wirds zeit!

hey there, wow it has been forever that i was on my blog, ups sorryyyy....well i dont need to tell you guys that the life in Hong Kong is crazy busy, works keeps me even more busy.....;-( and i am way to tired and lazy to write in the evenings, well anyways in the next posts i will update you all with some fun stories i remember...and i will put up some pics and later on some short movies as well..................
Here is a quick summary:
1 month in Hong Kong was extremly crazy, on my second weekend i met a french girl, - my future room mate - , we were hanging out and then a couple of days later we started to view apartments together, she is super nice and finally after 6 different real estate agents and at least 20 different apartment viewings we found a good place to move in...... just really quick to tell you all, the apartments here are super super small, and most of them are in very old buildings,,,, i have seen some horrible places i could not imagine that people even can live in there.......but our place is okay and it is newly renovated.......will put up some pics later........
2 month was the IKEA month, Audrey and me spend almost every evening at the Ikea here in Hong Kong, it was so exhausting to buy all staff, from towels , bed, kitchen supplies....everything you actually need to kinda survive, hahahah my bed arrived 2 weeks later, but luckily my roommate Audrey had a couch from her previous place....yep crazy, i am so happy to have bed now ;-) anyways we are settling in, and so far we both get along well.........

When I look back at the last 3months, I think about all the cool stuff i was able to experience already and I can tell that i am settling down slowly but i am sure there is so much more to do until i fully arrived in HK. I have met some wonderful friends here and i am not complaining about the klima, it is still nice and we can enjoy the beaches but i just wish you all would be here as well, i miss my friends and my family. ... Thinking of all of you and hope you are all well, sending you all a big big asian hug.........

life besides work!

One thing I have learned on my third day was, that the people who live here work hard and a lot! BUT after working hours they go crazy! Here are just some pics from my first experience party life in Hong Kong. People dont care if it is the middle of the week and they need to get up early on the next day. Every Wednesday they have "ladiesnight" yep exactly...I was there, meeting up with some of my new friends! All drinks are for free, I just couldn't say no!

It was fun and thankfully they have starbucks here so the coffee next morning helped me a lot to recover!!!

This was in the bar called "typhoon" The guy on the right is Roy, he is a good friend of Oli (nina'sboyfriend) I called him to see what they are up to, he and his friends showed me the nightlife on a Wednesday evening..............

There is another big thing what is very common in the summer months! The JUNK BOAT TRIPS - My friend Yungmie invited me to this "party boat" last sunday. Some people where dressed up, it made it even more fun! They were from all over the world, New Zealand, Locals, USA, England, France and 1 German girl! lol

We went to an island, 30mins away from the city and we had food and drinks on board and we went for a couple of swims in the ocean...it was a beautiful day I felt like I was on vacation! Only you all where missing, then it would be totally perfect!!!

busy

I have been so busy the last couple of days, I really have to apologize to all of you for not getting back to your nice mails......I miss you all a lot and you are always in my thought...wish you all could be here!!
Well after work i am following all my real estate agents through the city to find a place to live. I have 3 more weeks in the hotel so I really need to find an apartmen. I have seen some intersting places but the rent in hong kong is so expensive, it makes it a little difficult to find good place.....once i have my own apartment i will have more time to talk to all of you on skpye!
Okay I need to run, tonight is ladiesnight and they have free drinks, i cant miss that! I will keep you all informed about the apartment and how things are going! miss you all and I am always happy to hear from you! cheers martina

the communication

The communication between german and chinese colleagues are very challenging.
I have to admit that i do have a little german accent and sometimes it is not clear what i just said, but my colleagues can definitly top that! I cant remember all the words but I am trying so hard not to laugh!
two examples: we had a meeting about health insurance, and I just couldnt figure out why this colleague keeps on talking about a daughter (sound: dota) after a while i found out he was talking about a doctor!!!! ( i should record that,it sounds so funny)
well my other colleague likes to say "easy" a lot at the end of his sentences! ( "Martina, this is very importent to know, easy." or "Let me show you this, easy"?????
just yesterday I figured that he is saying "you see" all the time instead of easy.....
I seriously need to get used to their pronunciations........hahahhahhah..........

work

Back to reality! ohhh I was so nervous on my first day, but I had some good german chocolate in my purse, so nothing should go wrong, right?... lol
After the whole introduction part to my new colleagues (could not remember one name lol)I realized for the first that I am in a totally differnet world. They were all nice and welcoming to me and the chocolate really helped, but they do have a total different work-style. Everbody does his work/business from 9 til 6 and then they go home, there is not much socializing going on in between, only during the one hour lunch break! Now 1 week later I got used to it and I accepted the way how they work, and I think they are all starting to like and accepting me as well!!!!.....Anyways I am still trying to get organized, finding out how things work in Hong Kong, but I guess in a couple of weeks i will know more!

first day in Hong Kong

Hong Kong welcomed me with a nice thunderstorm on a Saturday night! It was actually pretty cool because I have never seen so much rain coming down! My new boss KY and his wife Kelly picked me up from the airport. I seriously didnt see him at first because the people looked all the same......but he came up to me and gave me warm welcome hug! thought it was cool!
They dropped me off at my hotel almost at midnight and invited me for breakfast for Sunday morning. I just thought ohhh s...., I need to sleep in, but actually it was good because I got used to the time easily and at the end I didnt have a jetlag at all!
My first day in Hong Kong was good, I have met his 2 boys (3 and 4 years old) cant remember the names it was something with hok roy and hok didi something or the other way around ....ups!

(this is my boss and his family)
We had breakfast at a super nice restaurant with harbor view, I was expecting some eggs and toast, but we had rice and different kind of fish and more fish and some spring rolls and dumlings, shrimp balls........sometimes i couldnt tell what it was, but i tried everything and it was good! well most of it!......by the way this breakfast is very special and traditional in Hong Kong and called Dim Sum. I have to say my boss has a very nice little family, I enjoyed the day.

Here are some first impressions from Hong Kong - it sometimes feels like I am in New York City/Sao Paulo or in Chinatown in San Francisco.....the skyline is amazing

There is a laser-show called "Symphonie of Lights" every night at 8 pm!

You will see this kind of chinese entrances a lot in Hong Kong especially when there is a park area!
